Campaign Promises and Candidate Puffery

I must say, it's been quite an experience sitting back and reading all of the campaign rhetoric that's being aimed at the unsuspecting citizens of Southport. Admittedly, I was on the other side of this unhealthy exchange 2 years ago. Now that I've been working as an elected official I can see that some of my words were spoken with very little knowledge of the realities of local government and the political process.

I would love nothing more than to dish on all of the hypocrisy, lies, misinformation, and uninformed proclamations by some of the candidates. But I assume that the good citizens of Southport can see through all of that. Besides, I'll have to work with whomever is elected, so I will take the unusual course of action (for me) by remaining silent.

Fortunately, a few of the candidates possess many good qualities and deserve your consideration and your vote. Unfortunately, there are not enough of them.

If anybody out there would like my assessment of any of the candidates please feel free to give me a call or e-mail and I'll be happy to enlighten you. Please go to my website for contact information.
